Project Information

The Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT) is in the process of redeveloping two of its sites to provide improved facilities. As the project is classified as ‘healthcare’ it requires BREEAM accreditation. Therefore, Pre-Demolition Audits are needed for each of the buildings being demolished, including the surrounding site areas.

Initially WPSCC was retained to provide Pre-Demolition Audits for seven buildings at the Leeds General Infirmary site, but following the successful delivery of those works we were retained to deliver three further work packages, which totalled 17 buildings across two sites.

Our Story

We were extremely pleased when, following the completion of the first project, we were asked if we could deliver three further work packages within a very tight timescale to fit in with the client’s budget constraints. Our survey team spent a total of five days on site, measuring  buildings including the morgue (complete with a few bodies!), the old animal cages, the radiation-contaminated storage area and the disused operating theatres (oh, what fun that was!). The remainder of the work was very straightforward and each work package was delivered on schedule. It later transpired that WPSCC  had been chosen for the extra works because we are known to be responsive to our clients’ needs and flexible enough to juggle the balls necessary to deliver on time.

Conclusion 

WPSCC proved itself again to be responsive and flexible enough to deliver on time.
